On the recommendation of the wondrous FlamingLacer I have just finished reading the Philip Pullman Trilogy, The Northern Lights.
A film of the first book was released before Christmas, The Golden Compass.
If you haven’t read the books, you have a treat in store. I cannot believe I missed them when my own daughter was younger.
My question relates to a theme in the book. One of the worlds is a parallel universe where people live and go about their daily lives the difference being that the souls of the individuals living here are external to the person and take the form of animals.
So, my question, is whimsical, but what would your Daemon be if you lived in this parallel world?

After seeing The Golden Compass my family’s discussion was exactly your question. It was decided that each member of the family currently has a pet, and that is who their daemon would be. (Two dogs, one hamster.) Only problem is that I am the only member of the family without a pet! Does that mean I have no daemon? No soul?! I think I need a cat . . .
So glad you enjoyed the books as much as I did! As for my daemon, according to the film website ‘quiz’ it would be a Raccoon but for myself I have always thought of my deamon as an Otter….
