Economic Madness

by Dee Harrison

A while ago we were given a motor car. A friend was emigrating and come the day he was due to fly out from Heathrow to Canada he hadn’t managed to sell the car so he gave it to us. Just like that.

We didn’t need another car but this one was too good to just scrap so we kept it. It has moved house with us and been in storage in a number of garages for the last 3 years.

It sounds ridiculous but it’s true. There’s nothing wrong with this Saab motor car apart from the fact that it is no longer the latest model. It is as economic as any 2litre car. It is spacious and it is comfortable but we don’t need it and no-one else wants it.

So after all the effort that has been made to save this motor car it is now to go to the crusher. From there it will be shipped half way round the World to China where they will…….in all probability…..make another motor car from the steel and then ship it back to the UK around the other half of the World for someone to buy here.

Call me naive but I just don’t understand the logic. Is it any wonder the economy is in the state it’s in? And let’s not even think about the energy this little exercise is going to consume and the pollution it is going to cause.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Please?

Interesting! I write about that sort of thing on two of my blogs. I don’t say they have answers to the problem, but they may give some insight to why the problem exists.

One of the blogs will be linked to my name on this comment, and the other one is: http://www.theleaderinside.com == where I have an entire series on what I call “The Big Picture”.

Be in peace ….
