Recently, I have found myself totally overcommitted.
Never liking to say ‘No’ to anyone’s requests I had reached a point of impossibility. A point where the circular running to chase my own tail had tied me up in complete knots and stasis prevailed.
I shall make no apologies for mixing metaphors if they help me to describe my thoughts.
I felt like a tangled piece of thread; not sure which piece, when pulled, would unravel the situation and which would tighten the knots to the point where only scissors would save the day.
Has anyone else been there?
Well, I pulled the wrong piece, became totally bound and scissors had to be deployed.
It has taken two days (and I am not finished yet) to bring some semblance of order back to life. It has been necessary to chop out a lot of the ‘knots’ and this has involved unsubscribing from some newsletters and site notifications and withdrawing from some business relationships but I am already feeling the benefits.
So, my question is for you.
Have you ever let life get so bad that you were just like a rabbit caught in the headlights of an approaching car?
Have you ever ended up breaking promises simply because of overwhelm induced procrastination?
Tell me your stories……and your solutions….
